Last week episode of Spartacus, we’ve seen too much action and victory for Batiatus as he succeeds in securing the position of primus for his man Gannicus in Vettius’ upcoming games through an elaborate scheme. Batiatus is only few steps away from his dream and that is stepping out of his father’s shadow. Perhaps I was wrong to theorize an epic battle between Crixus and Gannicus. Maybe it will be Oenomaus that takes Gannicus down. Considering I’m actually starting to see some hints of redeeming qualities beyond the cast shadow of Gannicus’ ego, the thought of two friends fighting like enemies sounds fairly terrible, but completely dramatic and fitting for a show like this. But Batiatus succeeds in securing the position of primus for his man Gannicus in Vettius’ upcoming games through an elaborate scheme. Just as his fortunes are on the rise, his future clear before him, Batiatus is stunned by the return of his father which puts his attempts to gain rank by exploiting those above his class at risk.
