A Guide to Storms

* 0 comments
storm
No matter where you live or travel on Earth, you are likely to encounter a storm of some kind sooner or later. Some places, of course, are stormier than others. Some storms are deadly or cause great damage, while others bring little danger. Many storms bring the rain or snow needed to supply drinking water and keep crops growing. All storms, big or small, demonstrate nature’s power. Many scientists who study the atmosphere were first attracted to meteorology by the wonders of storms. All storms have two things in common: low atmospheric pressure at the storm’s center, and winds that are created by the flow of air from higher pressure outside the storm toward the low pressure at the center.

Lightning and thunder
Despite their dramatic behavior, thunderstorms are the smallest of the different kinds of storms. They average around 16 km (10 mi) across, but they often occur in lines that can be a few hundred miles long or clusters a couple hundred miles across. Thunderstorms are often part of larger storms such as hurricanes. Every thunderstorm includes lightning because lightning causes thunder. Lightning creates a danger in any thunderstorm, no matter how large or small. Many thunderstorms drench the countryside with heavy rain, so you also have to worry about flash floods—that is, floods that rise very quickly, sometimes running over the banks of normally small streams. If a thunderstorm is strong enough, it can also create hail or balls of ice that fall from the storm.

Monsters from the tropics
Over the years, gigantic storms that originate in the tropics have killed more people around the world than any other single kind of storm. These storms are known by different terms in different regions. They are called hurricanes when they form over the Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea, Gulf of Mexico, or the eastern Pacific Ocean north of the equator. The same storms are called typhoons when they form over the western Pacific and tropical cyclones when they occur over the southern Pacific or the Indian Ocean. When the storm moves over land or cold water it begins to die, but a storm can stay over a warm ocean for a week or two, sometimes even longer, growing stronger or at least not losing much strength. A hurricane consists of lines of thunderstorms that spiral into the storm’s calm center, which is called the eye. Winds grow stronger as you approach the eye, and the very strongest winds occur in the wall of thunderstorms around the eye, called the eye wall. If the storm hits land it brings with it this mound of water, called a storm surge, which can be up to 6 m (20 ft) high. Storm surges still present a real danger for those who don’t evacuate, of course.

Avoiding the dangers of lightning and floods
Lightning and floods kill more people in other parts of the world than any other storm hazard. To avoid being hit by lightning, stop all outdoor activities and get into a sturdy building when you see a flash of lightning or hear a clap of thunder. Don’t take shelter under trees or in an open picnic shelter. A vehicle with a metal roof is a safe place if you roll up the windows. When a hurricane threatens, you should heed any orders to evacuate areas that could be flooded. You should also find out if any nearby streams are subject to flash floods. If so, leave if you hear a flash-flood warning. Whatever you do, don’t drive your car onto a flooded road, even if the water looks shallow. Most flood accidents in the United States occur when vehicles drive into floodwater.

Taking shelter from the wind
Tornadoes, severe thunderstorms with winds faster than 89 km/h (55 mph), and hurricanes all produce potentially deadly winds. When such a storm threatens, don’t waste time opening windows. The biggest danger from high winds comes from the things they blow around, including objects such as garbage cans and parts of buildings. Flying debris outside the house can hit a window and send glass flying all around a room. If possible, take shelter in a basement. If not, get into a small room with no outside windows, such as a bathroom or central closet. Anyone who lives in an area where tornadoes or hurricanes hit, and whose home isn’t likely to be flooded by a storm surge or flash flood, should build a safe room, which can serve double duty as a storage room and as a shelter from storm winds when needed.

Facebook Fishville Cheat Codes, Tricks, Tips

* 0 comments
Facebook Fishville
Another third party Facebook application that most Facebook users love to play online is Fishville. Like Facebook Farmville, Farm Town, Ninja Saga, Fishville is a Flash-based game launched by Zynga and available through social networking websites like Facebook. The object of FishVille is to start and build your fish tanks using a combination of coins and Sand Dollars. The trick here is that the dollars not only cost real money, but they take a lot of time to get. In addition, the fish which will bring in money take hours to 'grow', but if you don't log back in and sell them in time, they will eventually die, wasting all that hard earned coin and cash spent to buy and grow those fish. People lose a lot of money if they play the game wrong, and with dozens of different fishes, tanks and time frames, finding the right balance is not only vital for successful play, but tricky to figure out. Fishville comes with a helpful guide of tips, tricks, and cheats that will help you quickly advance in game play, and make your fellow Facebook friends jealous at your ability to speed through the game with ease.

How to Increase your Money and Experience points fast in Fishville
Buy fish eggs, grow them and sell and that’s it you will get experience points. Raise and sell fish that matures fast. These include Mini Dart Goby, Sardine fish and Red Spot Cardinal. Why they are called fast fish, because you can grow these fish in just 5 minutes, 3 minutes, and 15 minutes respectively. Of course you can earn coins as fast as you can and you can get experience points when you raise these fast fish rather than fish that would take you a day before you can sell them.

* FishVille players need to wait until their fish mature in order to sell them. Choosing the rapidly maturing Mini Dart Goby fish is an early, and cheap, option for only 9 Coins but we recommend choosing fish that take longer to mature. Our current favorite, pictured here, is the Scooter Blenny. Purchased for 88 Coins and grows every 24 hours, when sold it brings in 221 Coins. Along with coins, the Blenny also brings in a lot of XP and with more XP, the faster you'll level up.
* buying fish eggs also gets you more XP. Here we've purchased a Shy Hamlet for 35 Coins and gained 15 XP. If you purchased a Scooter Blenny, you'd spend 88 Coins but gain 29 XP. If you want more XP and have the coins, buy the more expensive fish.

Feeding Fish on a Schedule
It is also important to feed your fish on a regular schedule. You quickly earn more points and coins by feeding the fish often. So this means, instead of feeding your fish large amounts once or twice per day, feed them in very small amounts every few hours. This will keep your fish fed and growing, while also allowing you to earn extra FishVille points and coins that you would otherwise not achieve throughout the day.

Multi sponge
When you clean up the algae in yours (or a friends) if you click on them really fast you will see a sponge on each one you clicked.
So get started at FishVille, if you haven't already, and once you're up and running, come back here and check out this Fishville Cheat Codes, Tricks and Tips Secrets. It'll put you way ahead in the game, way fast.

Happy Valentines Day

Happy Valentines Day
Valentine's Day is an annual holiday held on February 14 celebrating love and affection between intimate companions. The holiday is named after one or more early Christian martyrs named Valentine and was established by Pope Gelasius I in 496 AD. It is traditionally a day on which lovers express their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery, and sending greeting cards (known as "valentines").

When you're in love you never really know whether your elation comes from the qualities of the one you love, or if it attributes them to her; whether the light which surrounds her like a halo comes from you, from her, or from the meeting of your sparks. ~Natalie Clifford Barney

Love is a symbol of eternity. It wipes out all sense of time, destroying all memory of a beginning and all fear of an end. - Anonymous

The hours I spend with you I look upon as sort of a perfumed garden, a dim twilight, and a fountain singing to it. You and you alone make me feel that I am alive. Other men it is said have seen angels, but I have seen thee and thou art enough. ~Jonathan Carroll

Happy Valentines Day To All!

Fake ‘Cory’ antivirus detected on the Web

* 0 comments
computer virusWhile Filipinos mourn over the death of a national icon in former president Corazon “Cory” Aquino, high-tech criminals are taking advantage of the situation and created a fake antivirus. The fake “Cory” antivirus, TROJ_FAKEALRT.FK, was found just recently by antivirus developers from TrendLabs The fake antivirus was discovered hidden in several websites, and were aimed mostly for search engine optimization attacks. Users who were looking for news on the former president’s death through search engines would be directed to some of these malicious websites. TrendLabs said in a statement the fake “Cory” antivirus was similar to previous attempts at spreading SEO attacks by exploiting recent news events. Among these were the death of American actress Farrah Fawcett, the A(H1N1) pandemic, and the recent total solar eclipse. Aquino’s death, which culminated in one of the most massive funeral processions in recent Philippine history, was widely covered by both traditional news organizations and by bloggers and users of social networking sites. Many Filipinos abroad also turned to online news organizations, social networking sites, and forums for updates on the death and burial of Aquino. There are more than 1.7 million Filipinos working abroad. Such a huge number of potential victims enticed cybercriminals to exploit Aquino’s death by spreading malicious software.

Filipinos make their mark on Google Maps

Google Map
Manila, Philippines - Filipinos are now helping shape Google Maps. Thanks to Google Map Maker, an application introduced in October 2008, Filipinos are now creating virtual maps of the Philippines on this virtual world, a Google executive said Thursday. Google Map Maker is a software application that lets users add, edit and moderate maps. This application encourages users to also provide comprehensive, high-quality and updated maps, as well as local content. I think we've seen a huge amount of interest from Filipino users and there has been a huge amount of progress already. With the Philippines’ cultural and geographic diversity--and over 7,000 islands, there is absolutely a long way to go. Google Map Maker edits have come from a diverse group of local users, reflecting the overwhelming response of Filipinos to collaborate online and share knowledge about their communities and neighborhoods. A user-generated content platform, Google Map Maker still goes through verification. As Wikipedia is to generating user-generated online encyclopedia, Google Map Maker is to user-generated map-making. Users can edit street-level data, landmark tags and business establishments. Once all these information are added, users from around the globe can view them. To date, Google said that updated and accurate maps of several provinces in the Visayas and Mindanao Region, including key tourism areas in the country, are available for viewing.

"Foreign tourists need information about places. Having local information from the Visayas and Mindanao, it is a big help for those unfamiliar with the area. Foreign tourists usually search on the Internet for information. They look for maps. With Google Maps Maker, tourists are able to find [information] from the locals themselves," said Bernard Arellano III, one of the top Filipino contributors in Google Map Maker. Updating the Philippine map on Google Maps is a continuous work as places continue to evolve. There is no specific timeline on updating information from Google Map Maker to Google Maps. The core thing for us internally is to make it as quickly as possible and it really depends on the volume of edits. Our promise to users is that when they contribute, we want to make sure it gets rolled out to Google Maps so that in turn their expertise and knowledge is of benefit to as many users as possible.

The Death and the Dying

* 0 comments
Death and Dying, the irreversible cessation of life and the imminent approach of death. Death involves a complete change in the status of a living entity—the loss of its essential characteristics. Death occurs at several levels. Ideas about what constitutes death vary with different cultures and in different epochs. In Western societies, death has traditionally been seen as the departure of the soul from the body. In this tradition, the essence of being human is independent of physical properties. Because the soul has no corporeal manifestation, its departure cannot be seen or otherwise objectively determined; hence, in this tradition, the cessation of breathing has been taken as the sign of death. In modern times, death has been thought to occur when the vital functions cease—breathing and circulation (as evidenced by the beating of the heart). This view has been challenged, however, as medical advances have made it possible to sustain respiration and cardiac functioning through mechanical means. Thus, more recently, the concept of brain death has gained acceptance. In this view, the irreversible loss of brain activity is the sign that death has occurred. Even the concept of brain death has been challenged in recent years, because a person can lose all capacity for higher mental functioning while lower-brain functions, such as spontaneous respiration, continue. For this reason, some authorities now argue that death should be considered the loss of the capacity for consciousness or social interaction. The sign of death, according to this view, is the absence of activity in the higher centers of the brain, principally the neocortex. Society's conception of death is of more than academic interest. Rapidly advancing medical technology has raised moral questions and introduced new problems in defining death legally. Among the issues being debated are the following: Who shall decide the criteria for death—physicians, legislatures, or each person for him- or herself? Is advancement of the moment of death by cutting off artificial support morally and legally permissible? Do people have the right to demand that extraordinary measures be stopped so that they may die in peace? Can the next of kin or a legal guardian act for the comatose dying person under such circumstances? All these questions have acquired new urgency with the advent of human tissue transplantation. The need for organs must be weighed against the rights of the dying donor. As a result of such questions, a number of groups have sought to establish an individual's “right to die,” particularly through the legal means of “living wills” in which an individual confers the right to withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment upon family members or legal figures. Many persons, even children, know they are dying anyway; helping them to bring it out into the open avoids pretense and encourages the expression of honest feelings. Given safety and security, the informed dying patient can achieve an appropriate death, one marked by dignity and serenity.

Pacquiao looking Tremendous in Training

* 2 comments
pacquiao vs clotteyManny Pacquiao started training for his showdown with Ghanaian Joshua Clottey on Monday, conditioning coach Alex Ariza reported the Filipino started training camp weighing 149 pounds, only 2 pounds over the agreed upon weight limit for the March 13th date at the $1.2 billion Cowboy’s stadium, Arlington, Texas.The current pound for pound king looks to have filled his 5' 6½″frame, and will most likely continue to compete in the welterweight division as a true welterweight and not a blown up lightweight.Pacquiao has opted to train at the Wild Card Gym, Los Angeles, CA. Residence of legendary trainer Freddie Roach, this in itself shows Manny is taking this bout seriously. You may remember Pacquiao decided to train for his last bout with Miguel Cotto in his native Philippines, against the wishes of trainer Freddie roach.“He is looking sharp” said Roach “we are ready to fight tomorrow if required”Joshua Clottey began training a week before Pacquiao, but things have not been going smooth for the Ghanaian. US immigration officials have refused to grant a visa to his trainers; spearheaded by Godwin Dzanie Kotey.“Alloway is the coach I know; he can speak my language to me and make me understand things better. I am disappointed in the US Embassy because now I have to go and do this difficult job with people I don’t know. Said Clottey. - Pacquiao vs Clottey
