Farm Town Cheat Codes, Tips and TricksAnother third party Facebook application that most Facebook users love to play online is Farm Town. Like Facebook Farmville, Farm town is a Flash-based game available through social networking websites like Facebook and MySpace. Players of Farmtown can build and maintain their own farm. There are certain aspects to the game that encourage players to seek out shortcuts and tricks that might help them advance faster. As with many other Facebook Games, so-called "cheats" or shortcuts to earn more farmtown coins, speed up the harvesting process, send multiple Farmtown gifts to their friends and otherwise make progressing in the game quicker and easier, have been discovered by players. Firts you start with a blank farm and a few coins. Then you plow some fields to prepare for the planting. Plowing a field is free. If you want to start planting, you go to the store and buy seeds. Seeds have corresponding number of days to grow and be available for harvesting. Some seeds take only one day to be ready for harvest so you have to get back to Farm Town in the next day to harvest your crops, otherwise, they will wither and die.

Here's a secret. To make more money with your crops, go to the marketplace and hire another player to harvest the crops for you. This way, you are able to help the player with additional coins and the price of your crops get higher. I don't know why this is so but maybe the developers of the game want more interaction between players. So the more that you hire other farmer to harvest your crops, the more coins you will get.

Upgrading Farm's Size in Farm Town
After harvesting in the entire farm. That means you was able to upgrade the size of farm by a few square meters. Hoping to reach a few more levels to further upsize farm. Plow some fields. Plant some seeds. Wait for the seeds to be ready for harvest. Ask another player to harvest your plants. Plow the harvested fields again. Buy some seeds again. Plant some seeds again. Wait for the seeds to grow again.

In the world of Farm Town you and your friends can have a great time! You can play games, design, grow and maintain your own farm and even send gifts to your friends. Play now and share the fun with everyone!

Avatar Movie no substitute for Chekhov: Medvedev

* 0 comments
Dimetry MedvedevScience-fiction epic "Avatar", called a cinematic sensation for its use of state-of-the-art 3-D cameras and motion capture technology, has become the biggest earning film of all time, recent figures showed. "New technologies have appeared but 'Avatar' will never supplant theatre even though it is very beautiful, very complicated and very expensive," Medvedev said on a visit to Taganrog, a port in southern Russia where Chekhov was born on January 29, 1860. "Despite all difficulties, theatrical art is still immortal," Medvedev told a meeting of top theatre directors in televised remarks. The Kremlin chief noted that theatre occupied an important place in Russia where some 600 theatres boast a total annual audience of 30 million people. At the meeting with Russian directors, Medvedev urged Russians not to emulate the West in their approach to dramatic art, even though he indicated Russian theatrical tradition had also seen better times. "I am not sure that everyone who comes to see Hamlet knows its plot," he said, referring to average theatre-goers in Russia, Ria-Novosti reported. "But still, we need to retain our advantage (over the West on theatre), if it exists, while overcoming gaps in other fields." Medvedev also professed his love for Chekhov, saying he had developed a keen interest in the writer in his early teens and had read all of Chekhov's works, including early humour stories as well as his personal letters. "Honestly, I am happy about this because if I didn't do it then I don't know when I would do it," Medvedev told the meeting. Medvedev, whose father was a university professor, has said in the past he was an avid reader of classics and counted the German writer Erich Maria Remarque among his favourite writers. Medvedev laid a bouquet of white roses at a Chekhov monument as dozens of locals cheered him, national television showed. At the meeting with the directors, Medvedev also waxed philosophical, indicating Chekhov's birthday made him think about his own legacy. "Today I have thought about what Chekhov had time to do and caught myself thinking a not very pleasant thought -- Chekhov passed away when he was 44." "(By that time) he had completed his life path, having created his immortal works. I am also 44."

Fujitsu made it's first iPad

Fujitsu iPadThe hype about Apple's latest offering, the device has been hailed as an "iPhone on steroids" and a "Kindle killer" that will upstage electronic book readers, but also mocked on chatrooms for evoking a feminine hygiene product. Now it looks like Apple could have a trademark dispute on its hands. Fujitsu Ltd. said its US subsidiary in 2002 launched the "iPad", a sleek handheld multimedia device with a 3.5-inch screen, used by retail store clerks to keep inventory data, scan barcodes and manage business operations. Fujitsu's device has an Intel processor and a Microsoft operating system and supports both Wi-fi and Bluetooth connections. In 2003, Fujitsu's US arm made a trademark application for the "iPad" name with the US Patent and Trademark Office, which is still pending and not yet registered. Fujitsu was yet to decide on how it may react to the launch of Apple's tablet computer, as we are now sorting out the facts, we have not decided on what action we may take. A possible feud between Apple and Fujitsu has sparked debate on Japanese chatrooms, with one observer proposing: "Let's apply for as many 'i' such-and-such names as possible! We'll make money in the future! Apple has been embroiled in trademark disputes with other companies before, including Cisco Systems, which launched its "iPhone" before Apple. The two companies settled the dispute in 2007, agreeing to share the name. They will probably have talks to settle this, given that the customers for their products do not overlap, and for the sake of their business ties in the future. Germany's Siemens uses the trademark "iPad" for small engines and motors. The Swiss-based microchip maker STMicroelectronics has reportedly also registered "IPAD", short for "Integrated Passive and Active Devices." In Canada, the Ontario-based company Coconut Grove Pads Inc. has since 2007 made a line of bra inserts and shoulder pads called the "iPad", according to an online report by the Globe and Mail daily. A Japanese company that makes a product of the same name -- pronounced "ai pad" when transcribed from the Japanese -- is Awaji-Tec, a manufacturer of adult nappies with a high-tech twist. The company says its nappies feature an electronic device that can send a signal to a remote caregiver when it needs to be changed.

I’ve got goods to beat Pacquiao, Clottey

pacquiao vs clottey
GHANAIAN Joshua Clottey thinks he has the right combination to stun Filipino superstar Manny Pacquiao when they tangle for the World Boxing Organization welterweight crown on March 13 at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas called "The Event: Pacquiao vs Clottey."

Though early betting odds in Las Vegas have tagged Pacquiao as a 3-1 favorite, Clottey said he can turn things around come fight time with his defense and strength.

“You see I have a lot of [tools] to beat Manny Pacquiao,” Clottey told Boxingtalk.com. “I have my defense in there and I’m a strong welterweight. He’s fighting with one of the best out there and I think I have everything to beat him and when we get to the ring, I will prove it to everybody.”

Clottey said he won’t make the same mistake Miguel Cotto did when the Puerto Rican battled and got stopped by Pacquiao in the 12th and last round on November.

“Cotto thought he was a small guy and he didn’t think Pacquiao was going to hurt him with a punch. But this is boxing and our chin is there to be hit.”

The 33-year-old Clottey, who was beaten by Cotto via a controversial split decision last June 13, said he respects Pacquiao’s power and won’t come into the fight going for a knockout—even if he relishes at the thought of stopping the reigning pound-for-pound king. “God willing I knock him out, then my money will start coming crazy. I can’t tell you I will knock Pacquiao but I will make so many differences in the ring.”

Sci-fi author to oppose Google book settlement

* 0 comments
American fantasy fiction author Ursula K. Le Guin is to submit a petition to a US judge on Tuesday signed by 365 other writers opposing the legal settlement that would allow Google to scan and sell millions of books online. Le Guin's petition asks Judge Denny Chin to exempt the United States from the revised legal settlement reached between Google and US authors and publishers over the Internet giant's vast digital book-scanning project. Chin is scheduled to hold a hearing on the revised agreement on February 18. Google and the Authors Guild and the Association of American Publishers reached the settlement last year to a copyright infringement suit they filed against the company in 2005. Under the settlement, Google agreed to pay $125 million to resolve outstanding claims and establish an independent "Book Rights Registry," which would provide revenue from sales and advertising to authors and publishers who agree to digitize their books. Amid objections from France, Germany and others, the revised deal narrowed the definition of books covered under the settlement to those registered with the US Copyright Office by January 5, 2009 or published in Australia, Britain, Canada or the United States. Exempting the United States from the settlement—as demanded by Le Guin and the other signatories to her petition—would effectively torpedo the agreement. In her petition, which is available on her website, ursulakleguin.com, Le Guin said the settlement was negotiated by the Authors Guild "without consultation with any other group of authors or American authors as a whole." "The Guild cannot and does not speak for all American writers," she said. "Its settlement cannot be seen as reflecting the will or interest of any group but the Guild." She said the National Writers Union, the American Society of Journalists and Authors, and the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America were among those opposed to the settlement. "We ask that the United States also be exempted from the settlement," she said. "We ask that the principle of copyright, which is directly threatened by the settlement, be honored and upheld in the United States." "We urge our government and our courts to allow no corporation to circumvent copyright law or dictate the terms of that control," Le Guin said. Opponents of the settlement between Google and US authors and publishers have until Thursday to lodge objections with Chin's Southern District of New York court. The US Justice Department, whose copyright and anti-trust reservations about the original agreement forced the parties to go back to the drawing board, has until February 4 to make its views known. Last week, the heirs of American author John Steinbeck and folk singer Woody Guthrie dropped their opposition to the settlement, which Google says would make millions of books, including many which are now out-of-print, available online. "If approved by the court, this settlement stands to unlock access to millions of books in the US while giving authors and publishers new ways to distribute their work," a Google spokesperson said. Among the Authors Guild members supporting the settlement are Wally Lamb, Simon Winchester, Beverly Cleary, Amy Tan, Scott Turow, Garrison Keillor and Elmore Leonard.

Facebook Farmville Cheats Codes, Tips, and Tricks

Farmville is one of the most popular game on Facebook as it reach to over 12 million online players around the world. FarmVille is a social game developed by Zynga, and available on social networks and iPhones. Launched in June 2009, it became one of the most popular Facebook Applications, garnering 10 million users in less than a month. This is one of the most popular games on the largest social networking system in the world. The best cheats and game tips you can use to get ahead in FarmVille, the best farm game on Facebook. There are many cheats people have discovered for this popular game, here is a list to the best ones, the best strategies and tips on how to make your Farmville farm boom.

Farmville Cheat Codes For Growing Best Crops
Planting a field full of strawberries will make a player a lot of money, and although this is not considered one of the cheats, it does help a play to accumulate money and experience quickly. Strawberries in this game take four hours to grow, so this is perfect for people who can log into facebook often.The strawberries will give a player the experience needed and the cash to move up the levels quickly. It is time consuming, but well worth the effort if one wishes to make the levels fast. Planting a field full of peas which take a day to grow will net the player 7.652 coins an hour and will earn the player 3 experience points per hour. Onions, sunflowers, sugar cane, lilies, grapes, tomatoes, and asparagus are also good buys, but these crops are only available on the higher levels.

Money that grow on trees!
To get anywhere in FarmVille, you're going to have to get down and dirty, and grow your own crops. Like any good self respecting farmer, you'll be living off the fat of the land in this game, but first, you'll have to get get dressed. When you start up your new FarmVille account, you'll be asked to pick what gender farmer you want to be, and to pick your hair color and style, and pick from different facial features. For YoVille veterans, this will be very familiar as the character creation has not changed from that game. The only difference is that FarmVille does not let you pick an outfit, it's overalls and plaid shirts for everyone, something the game has borrowed directly from FarmTown. All the set up done, time has come to get started on your farm work. You start out with a patch of land, and a sorry patch of strawberries that are ripe for harvest. This is your cue to make your first FarmVille dollar, select the harvesting tools from your tools menu in the bottom right corner, and click on your strawberry patch. As you harvest your first batch of produce, you'll get credited your money instantly, no need to go to the market and sell your crops to Farmer Tom. As soon as you've got your first berries sold though, it's time to go to the market anyways and put the money you've made to work. Time to buy some seeds and get to sowing. As a brand new FarmVille farmer, you also have a few patches of already plowed field, so you're all set to sow your first seeds. Click on the market icon in the menu and you'll get to the list of available seeds. Strawberries might seem tempting, as they are very cheap to purchase and taste excellent with some half and half, before committing to strawberry farming though you should make sure that you can log onto FarmVille again in 4 hours. Strawberries ripens the fastest of any fruit in the game, which can turn out to be a real chore later in the game. For now though, in the initial stages of the game, logging back on in 4 hours might not be to bad, and if you can do it, getting the cash flow going as fast as possible will be a big advantage. If it's already getting late, or you for some other reason can't log on to FarmVille again in 4 hours, you should pick a different fruit that will take longer to be ripe. The reason is that strawberries are eerily similar to grapes in FarmTown, quick to ripen, and quicker to spoil. If you spend all your cash on strawberries and let them spoil because you waited 6 hours to pick them, you've put yourself in a hole it will be difficult to dig out of. You can always make money harvesting crops for your friends and strangers, but making money of your own ranch is always by far the best. So, make sure the first batch you plant is one you'll also be able to harvest. If the four hours seems like it might be just too quick, pick a vegetable that will take one day to be ready, the best return on your money would be the peas(?), don't pick produce that take longer than 1 day to be ready. While the payoff might seem tempting, you should focus on getting a cash flow going early. FarmVille is more forgiving than previous farming games when it comes to early cash flow, but the key to successful farming will still be to establish a profitable harvest routine as fast as possible.

Facebook Farmville Cheat Codes for Speed
Clear a section in your field of plots, you need to create a nice section of land, which only grass on it. Clear nine spots in a formation. Now ‘walk’ your person in the middle of this section.Go to the market, purchase the cheapest fences, and set the fences around the person. After you have set four fences down you will need to turn two of them. You can click on the fence when it is placed and turn it sideways. This effectively blocks in the person and now you can plow and plant much quicker. This fence trick is super handy if you have a large amount of area to plow or plant. If you use other items to block in your person, he or she will walk around the perimeter and proceed to plant or plow.

Another tricks
One of the best cheats to use on FarmVille is the unlimited gift cheat. If you are interested in running a farm without crops, this cheat will enable you to build up your farm for free. The unlimited gifts cheat works best if you are using Firefox. To use the cheat, before you have given any gifts, right click on the 'gifts' tab on top of the game and select 'open link in new browser'. This will open the gift giving screen in a new tab in your browser. Repeat this as many times as you'd like. I have tried the cheat with up to 20 different tabs without problems. Once you have all your tabs with the gift giving page open, go back to every single one and select the gift you want to give. Do this for every single tab without confirming the selection. Once you have done this for every single tab, go back again and confirm on each page, selecting who you want to send the gift to. Again, do not confirm the sending of the gift on this page. Do this in every tab again, and when you go back to your first tab, you should be able to confirm the gift and send it from each of your open tabs. This way you can send unlimited gifts to your friends, or if you'd like to receive unlimited gifts, create an alternate gifting account that can send you an abundance of any gift you would like. That's my Facebook Farmville Cheats Codes, Tips, and Tricks.

Forecasting Danger: Flooding

* 0 comments
The recent typhoons that hit Metro Manila and the surrounding provinces last two months were the worst on record. Almost the entire population of Manila was affected in one way or another by the flooding. People lost their houses, cars and other property. Worse, scores of people remain missing and over 300 are confirmed dead by the government. In a natural disaster—a hurricane, flood, tornado, volcanic eruption, or other calamity—minutes and even seconds of warning can be the difference between life and death. Because of this, scientists and government officials are working to use the latest technological advances to predict when and where disasters will happen. They are also studying how best to analyze and communicate this information once it is obtained. The goal is to put technology to effective use in saving lives and property when nature unleashes its power with devastating results.

Three Phases of Prediction
In general, the process has three phases. First, there is the challenge of forecasting the event itself. A second important challenge is communicating the forecast to decision makers. Because forecasts are always uncertain, a central factor in disaster predictions is communicating this uncertainty. Uncertainty is usually described in terms of odds or probabilities, much like daily weather forecasts. The media plays an important role in communicating predictions and their uncertainty to the public. The third part of the process is the use of predictive information by decision makers. Even the most accurate information is of little value if the decision maker does not use it appropriately, for example in deciding whether to order an evacuation. If there is a breakdown in any of these three phases of prediction, the result is increased danger and a higher risk of loss of life.
Two main types of floods impact society and the environment: river floods and flash floods. Large-scale river flooding occurs over a period of weeks or months and can result in the inundation of hundreds or thousands of square miles. A recent example is Manila and surrounding provinces was affected due to flooding. Flash floods occur over a period of hours as the result of extremely heavy rainfall and can affect very small areas. Flash floods pose great risks to human life. Flood prediction involves consideration of many factors. These include the characteristics of a river basin (such as soil type, ability to hold water, and slope), how water behaves in the river, and meteorology. Another important factor in flood prediction is how people respond to warnings. For flash floods it is important to observe rainfall rates and the flow of water in a river or stream. Increasingly, scientists track rainfall by using advanced radar systems that can measure where the water falls and with what intensity. They monitor river and stream levels using low-tech gauges positioned at key locations along a channel. This information is put into computer models that calculate the future volume and height of a river at particular locations.

Hope for the Future
Because the stakes are so high, the science of disaster prediction has a bright future. The various projects and programs illustrate that disaster prediction is a topic of concern to scientists and policy makers alike. Typhoons, tornadoes, floods, earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanoes all show that the effective use of disaster predictions not only requires advanced technology but also requires that society consider the entire process of prediction—forecasts, communication, and use of information. Because they cannot predict the future with certainty, and because much remains to be learned, scientists warn that society must understand the limits of scientific predictions and be prepared to employ alternatives. Wisely used, however, disaster prediction has the potential to reduce society's vulnerability to natural disasters.

4G iPhone to have a 5-Megapixel Camera

* 0 comments
iPhone 4GAccording to a source the upcoming iPhone 4G, the next-generation of Apple's wonder phone that will make an appearance at WWDC '10, might actually have a 5-Megapixel camera. The rumor was published in DigiTimes, a Taiwanese publication and the published report claims that OmniVision is set to supply a 5-megapixel camera for the next-generation iPhone. Now what makes this rumor really interesting is the fact that OmniVision happens to be the supplier for the 3.2 megapixel camera sensor which is included in the iPhone 3GS. Omnivision also claims that the orders will be almost double, from a mere 20 million units to a 40 million and plus for 2010. And for what all we can believe for now, the reason to introduce a a high-quality camera sensor in the new iPhone is either because Apple wants to keep up with other industry-standard smartphones or because it has plans to use it as a front-camera on the new iPhone for video calling purposes?

Microbes Fight Back

* 0 comments
bacteriaHumans, like other creatures, are vulnerable to infection, and microbes—microscopic organisms such as bacteria and viruses—have the potential to cause a catastrophic epidemic that could spread through the entire human race. Although many killer diseases of the past have been conquered or quelled, scientists today fear that a major outbreak of deadly and uncontrollable disease is still possible. In this article, urges the scientific community to keep watch over microbial populations in order to detect new, dangerous strains before they spread out of control. Public health experts from around the world considered what is likely to be the next disease-causing microbe—and thus disease—to be eradicated from the face of the Earth following the demise of smallpox nearly 20 years ago. Their conclusion: either poliomyelitis or measles virus (perhaps both) should follow smallpox virus into extinction in the near future. All credit to the vaccines, medical scientists, and efforts by the World Health Organization (WHO) and other bodies that make such achievements possible. But there is a darker side to humankind’s confrontation with communicable disease. Raging on many fronts, this is a battle that will never be completely won. It is one in which our enemies are ever likely to challenge us in ways to which we simply cannot respond. The awesome power of microbes such as viruses and bacteria over human affairs is amply illustrated by the great epidemics of the past. In the 14th century, the Black Death killed one third of the entire population of Europe within about four years. Later, as Napoleon’s armies marched back and forth across the continent, typhus and other infections killed far more men than were lost in battle. Even during World War I—and despite considerable progress in medical science during four decades before the war—typhus alone was responsible for over two million deaths. Vaccines and antibiotics have since transformed our capacity to combat these and many other conditions. In particular, the elimination of smallpox during the 1970s is rightly applauded as one of the most spectacular feats ever achieved by applied science. Thirty years ago, in light of widespread immunization, the “antibiotic revolution,” and other advances, it seemed that the conquest of dangerous viruses and bacteria was drawing to a close as a triumphant phase of human history. Any complacency that might have existed at that time has long since been shattered by the resurgence of diseases, such as tuberculosis, which were thought to have been defeated, and by the appearance of a long catalogue of hitherto unknown or unrecognized infections. These include Campylobacter food poisoning, Legionnaires’ disease, Lassa fever, Listeria food poisoning, Lyme disease, and AIDS. As the World Health Organization said recently: “A host of new and reemerging diseases are now threatening the health of the world.” There are three principal reasons to fear that, despite the unquestioned successes of the past, the future could see the emergence of an uncontrollable infection with devastating consequences for society. One is the widespread proliferation of bacteria unaffected by antibiotics, and the rapid spread of resistance (to ten or more different antibiotics) in bacterial populations. The main explanation for the declining power of these drugs is simply that they have been used excessively, often being prescribed indiscriminately for trivial conditions. This over-use has led to the emergence—which Charles Darwin could have predicted long ago—of bacteria able to resist attack by antibiotics. What Darwin did not know was that resistant bacteria can also pass on resistance (without losing it themselves) to initially sensitive bacteria. This makes matters a good deal worse. A second reason for very serious concern about infectious disease in the future is that microorganisms are relentless opportunists. Because of their astronomical numbers, their phenomenal growth rate and their adaptability, they can often exploit new circumstances to grow and cause disease. The bacterium responsible for Legionnaires’ disease, for example, occurs in many streams and lakes, where it has no effect on human health. But when the same microbe is released into the air as an aerosol—by improperly maintained cooling towers, for example—it can prove deadly. Breathed into the lungs, this otherwise innocuous bacterium causes a virulent type of pneumonia which is often fatal. Yet we simply did not know about this deadly possibility until the first outbreak of Legionnaires’ disease occurred in Philadelphia in 1976. One particular reason why microbes adapt so quickly to new circumstances is their considerable capacity to ferry genes between one organism and another. Not only genes responsible for drug resistance, but those bestowing many other traits too, are constantly being passed around in the microbial world. One example is a new and deadly variety of a bacterium, Escherichia coli, which is normally entirely harmless and indeed lives in rich profusion in the human intestines. However, the new strain, E. coli 0157:H7, has been responsible for some extremely serious epidemics in different parts of the world. Clearly, the systems used to monitor and detect infections vary in different parts of the world, and are highly susceptible to disruption by warfare and civil unrest. Yet even in well-developed and relatively peaceable societies, these systems leave much to be desired. Although a world network of influenza reference centers, coordinated by the WHO, provides some information about the emergence of new influenza viruses (see also A(H1N1) Influenza Virus), overall the level of surveillance is not sufficient to detect as quickly as possible many other possible alterations in the microbial world. Some countries, facing financial difficulties, are actually reducing their monitoring procedures—at just the time when they should be increasing their knowledge of population shifts and gene transfers among microorganisms. There is no reason that a great plague could not happen again. There are catastrophes ahead. We live in evolutionary competition with microbes.… There is no guarantee that we will be the survivors. Such warnings may appear unduly pessimistic, and they certainly have to be set alongside the enormous power of modern medical science to cope with threats to human health. The key task is the concentration of research efforts into, and surveillance over, changing patterns of infectious disease. For, as we now realize, this will be an endless quest.
