Fireflies during Earth Hour

* 0 comments
Fireflies during Earth HourI wanted to share a story to all Hectic Capiznon Bloggers 2009 participants that maybe you will get some lessons from this. A wonderful thing happened last Saturday night March 28 in our neighborhood: most of electric lights were turned off, and it was dark. And quite too-no radio or television set was on. The sound of the crickets and cicadas was the only other sound. It was 8:30 p.m., Earth Hour, when everybody was supposed to turned off their electricity for one hour to help save Mother Earth and us and everything else on it. Most of the houses on my street were dark and quite, but lights in the others were blazing, though they were also quite. I sat in the dark in the terrace. When the moon is bright, I usually set here and watch the yard bathed in the soft glow of moonlight. Above the rooftops, there was a stars in the dark skies. I have rarely seen the stars this bright. It is then that wonderful things happen. I discovered the fireflies in our tree flying towards to the other trees. A tree was aglow with fireflies. It was like a Christmas tree. I went further inside and among the branches of a big camachile tree growing besides the stream, fireflies were having a convention. I was lucky to have seen such a light. Last night, as I sat on our terrace in the dark listening to the crickets and cicadas, a wonderful thing happened again. Tiny pinpricks of light appeared in the blackness. They dance here and there, first one, then two, then three, four and five…fireflies! I think the fireflies have always been there, but we hardly notice them because of their tiny lights were drowned out by the bright electric lights. That is why we see them only during blackouts. There are some people who have never seen a single firefly in their entire lives, but I have seen enough to last several lives. I am sure there are some fireflies elsewhere in the cities but they are not noticed of the bright lights. Anyway, because of the success of the last Earth Hour, we saved megawatts of electricity equivalent to the output of one coal-powered plant, and added a few more years to the life of our planet. May I also suggest a monthly Earth Hour during the full moon. Like the fireflies, we also fail to notice and appreciate the moon. Because the moon rises at different hours in different countries, the monthly Earth Hour need not be the same time all over the world. Each country, city, municipality, barangay can set their own times for the Earth Hour: One hour every full moon. There would be enough light even with all the electric lights out. You can appreciate the moon more. Just think of this Hectic Capiznon Bloggers 2009 participants; just think of the electric bills you will save. And who knows, you may see a firefly too.

How about you Capiznon Bloggers, just write your own Earth Hour story or response about this on how to take care Mother Earth. Share something to us.

The Myth of the Aswang

* 0 comments
The Myth of the Aswang The Hectic Capiznon Bloggers 2009 proud to share some myth and superstitious or religious beliefs of the early Capiznon. Do you believe in aswang? Aswang is a Filipino version of the vampire. They are human-like by day but transform into different monstrous forms to harass and eat awake humans at night, especially pregnant women who are about to give birth. Aswangs can change from a human to an animal form, usually as a bat, a pig or a black dog. Some aswang’s can change form at will, others through the use of foul oils concocted by evil magicians. Aswangs appear at night to prey upon unwary travelers or sleeping people. It is said that they have a peculiar liking for the taste of human liver. The myth of the Aswang is popular in the Visayas, especially in provinces such as Capiz, Antique, and Iloilo. Aswangs also have a peculiar liking for the fetus of pregnant women and are said to find their quarry by the scent of the mother, which to the aswang smells like ripe jackfruit. Upon finding the house of the pregnant mother, the aswang alights on the roof from where it stretches its tongue until it is as thin as a thread and uses it to enter the womb and feast on the fetus. The Hectic Capiznon Bloggers 2009 blog article has no intentions to scare the visitors who want to visit Capiz and the myth of aswang is not true it’s just a myth and this just all superstitious and religious beliefs of early Capiznon. The Hectic Capiznon Bloggers 2009 blog want to promote Capiz as the premier destination for out of town trip. The Hectic Capiznon Bloggers 2009 blog wants to encourage visitors and travelers to discover the Capiz mystic. Explore the rolling hills, mountain peaks and ranges. Enjoy daytime excursions at the province’s wide beaches and isolated coves. Beautiful people. Have a fill of a variety of seafoods available all year round. Capiz is known as the Seafood’s Capital of the Philippines. Visit local gardens, historical sites, old Spanish churches, Southeast Asia’s largest bell at Pan-ay Church, and the birthplace of Manuel A. Roxas (first Philippine President). Capiznon people are God fearing, we believe in God Almighty, we believe in Jesus Christ, whatever religion we have, whether Catholic, Protestants, or Baptist, we are all Christians and we believe in one God and most of all we are not aswang.

The new Official Website of the Province of Capiz

* 0 comments
Official Website of the Province of Capiz Yes folks! It is the new Official website of the province of Capiz and a new stunning layout design and green theme appearance as well. It’s now back after several months that the official website of Capiz was down. This was happen last two months I guess when I was trying to research about the tourism in the provinces and make an article and post it on my Hectic Capiznon Bloggers 2009 blog and to my surprise the Capiz.gov.ph was inaccessible. The provincial government has already exert more effort to make the website accessible once again, to make some updates, and appear to be more competitive compared to other provinces in the country. I congratulate all the people behind this program and make some effort to improve the image of the province by having a website that we can visit and read for updates about the happenings around the province in Capiz. The Hectic Capiznon Bloggers 2009 is proud to that we have a new website that we can be proud of to other provinces. This is a kind of website that we Capiznon will be proud of. I hope that they've already deal with the security issues of this website. Why I mentioned this because the site was down because it was hacked by a certain Turkish hacker due to the vulnerability of the CMS (content management system) used by Capiz.gov.ph website, which is the version of software that they used was not updated. This kind of people who could not do anything good on their life and make some irresponsible and unethical act by destroying other’s property. I think the provincial government and the people behind this program already used a different CMS so that this kind of attack will not happen in the near future. The site is still under development because according to its admin they might have several features to be added later on. I would like to suggest that they have to include some kind of a comment section or some kinda forum that we Capiznon can leave our message, exchange some ideas, and discuss some issues about the province. I know there are a lot of Capiznon from different parts of the world would love to leave their messages to the site. Capiznon around the world will love to see the new website to see what’s new, what’s hot, and what’s latest happening around the province. We are proud of being a Capiznon.

* 0 comments

It has been time to say about little tips in doing about search engine optimizing and today we in Hectic Capiznon Bloggers 2009 will discuss a little idea about meta description tags. If you don't know what meta tags are, and what the importance of adding meta tag is, here is the detailed description on how to add them to your blogger (blogspot) blog. Do you know adding meta tags is so important if you want to get more traffic from search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN, etc, especially the meta description tag is the most important one. Meta tags allow search engines to index your web pages more accurately. In other words, meta tags communicate with the search engines and tells more information about your site and make it index correctly and accurately. Include your most relevant and important keyword phrases in your page’s Meta Description tag. As in the case of a Title tag, focus on the same keyword phrases as you used in your age’s Title tag and body text. Fewer and highly targeted search phrases can boost your web page’s relevance in the Search Engines results. Meta Description tag of your blog should not read like a collection of keywords, but should be as an informative and interesting summary of your web page. That’s a little share for Hectic Capiznon Bloggers 2009.

Now, to all the AMA students and Hectic Capiznon Bloggers 2009 if you wanna know what the activities are during our 12th foundation day of the AMA CLC Roxas last week? Here it is. After the motorcade, we have an opening ceremony at the AMA CLC Roxas Campus after that the booths of the different clubs of the school finally open to the public. Unique Capiznon Appetite

* 0 comments

One of the famous foods the Filipinos are known for is the “balut”. It’s a one-day old boiled duckling egg. Here in Capiz, the “balut” is known as an energizer to those who need strength or aphrodisiac to others. This is peddled every evening by “balut” vendors and they come together with “chicharon”, fired thin slices of pork fat or skin. Another weird food here in Capiz includes pig’s blood soup (dinuguan). Capiznon also eat strange bits of animals – the feet, the head, the guts etc. and this is usually barbecued on a stick. These have been given witty names such as “adidas” (chicken’s feet); “kurbata” (either just chicken neck); “PAL” (chicken wings); “helmet” (chicken heads); and “isaw” (chicken intestines). So there it was the unique Capiznon appetite I do hope you like this simple information about Capiznon. And I hope you did not lose your appetite. Watch out for more unique stories only here in Hectic Capiznon Bloggers 2009.
